The seventh entry in Guidon Games’ “Wargaming With Minatures” line, Ironclad is a set of ACW naval rules meant for use with 1:1200 scale miniatures. At the time, these were available from Jack Scruby, and you will see references to his catalog numbers.
These are meant to be simple, playable rules, meant to play fast and bloodily at a sacrifice to realism. They were developed and written by Tom Wham (Awful Green Things From Outer Space, Kings & Things) and Don Lowry (Atlanta, Grand Army).
This is a replica of the original 1973 rules verbatim, though the charts and movement templates have been redone.
In addition to the miniatures, the rules expect that each ship and fort will have a small reference card where damage is checked off, which will need to be prepared by the players. Only six sided dice are used for all results, though the ramming table expects use of a red die and a green die.

The eighth issue of Lowrys Guidon carries no date, but probably came out around March 1974.
Originally a collection of essays commissioned by the Simulations Design Corporation (SDC), it became Special Issue #1 of Campaign magazine (not labeled as such, but the Gamer’s Guide to Squad Leader was #2).
The seventh issue of Lowrys Guidon probably came out came out in November or December 1973, but carries no date… or issue number.
The first of two issues of Don Greenwood’s Panzerfaust that were offset-printed is now available! This issue (January-February 1972) still had from typewritten layouts, but no longer used the spirit master process.
The final issue of Campaign (Winter 1983) featured con reports for Origins ’82, strategy for Civilization, and a review of Gettysburg: High Tide of the Confederacy.
The July-August 1982 issue of Campaign magazine (#110) featured reviews of the 1981 version of Third Reich, and Ironbottom Sound.
Issue #109 of Campaign magazine (May-June 1982) featured reviews of Winter Storm, Battle Over Britain, Combat, McPherson’s Ridge, and Napoleon at Austerlitz.
The March-April 1982 issue of Campaign magazine (#108) featured reviews of Storm Over Arnheim and Assault on Tobruk.
Issue #107 of Campaign magazine (January-February 1982) featured a review and strategies for A House Divided and a combined review of The Great Redoubt and Thin Red Line.
